Fifty Six: Blue Zone Marketing Takes You Inside the Arizona State Sun Devils' Season
Premiering Thursday, May 15 at 11 PM MST on Fox10 Phoenix, Sun Devil Baseball's Fifty Six: A Docuseries takes audiences inside one of the most compelling seasons in Arizona State baseball history.
There's a room at Phoenix Municipal Stadium simply called the “Omaha Room.” Why? Because it represents where every Arizona State Sun Devil baseball player hopes to end their season: the College World Series. And for the first time in 15 years, the Sun Devils are a legitimate threat to get there.
That hunger, that pursuit, and that unfiltered reality of what it takes to compete at the highest level of college baseball is exactly what Blue Zone Marketing set out to capture through this documentary series.
1. The Number That Defines a Season
Why Fifty Six? In Division I college baseball, conference play becomes the proving ground. The Sun Devils battle through 56 conference games during the season — 56 opportunities to prove themselves against the best teams in the Big 12.
Every game matters. Every inning matters. The difference between Omaha and going home can come down to a single pitch.
Blue Zone's production team followed head coach Willie Bloomquist, assistant coaches Jeremy Accardo, Sam Peraza, Jason Ellison, and the 2026 Arizona State Sun Devils through the most consequential stretch of that grind.
2. An Unscripted Program on a Mission
Bloomquist returned to his alma mater in 2021 as a 14-year MLB veteran determined to rebuild one of college baseball's most storied programs. He inherited a team that had missed the NCAA Tournament three straight seasons and a fan base that remembered national championships, MLB stars, and Omaha expectations.
That breakthrough finally came in 2025 when the Sun Devils returned to the NCAA Tournament during their first season competing in the Big 12.
Heading into 2026, Arizona State entered the season with one of the deepest rosters of the Bloomquist era, featuring All-American Cole Carlon, standout sophomore Landon Hairston, and key transfer additions including former TCU pitcher Kole Klecker and former UNLV slugger Dean Toigo.
Blue Zone Marketing's cameras captured every layer of that journey: pre-game rituals, weight room preparation, coaching conversations, emotional locker rooms, and the moments that make college baseball unlike anything else in sports.
3. Three Episodes During the Biggest Stretch of the Season
Fifty Six is structured as a three-episode docuseries airing on Fox10 Phoenix during the most important part of the college baseball calendar.
The series follows the Sun Devils through the final regular season games, the Big 12 Tournament, and Selection Monday — the moment programs learn whether they've earned a place in the 64-team NCAA Tournament field.
This is not a hype reel or a collection of highlights. It is a genuine, behind-the-scenes look at what life inside a Division I NCAA baseball program actually feels like: the pressure, the preparation, the sacrifice, and the relationships that hold everything together.
And as for a potential fourth episode? Let’s just say the Blue Zone team planned for every possibility.
4. Why Blue Zone Marketing Created This Series
At Blue Zone Marketing, storytelling is central to how we approach NIL marketing and athlete partnerships. The NIL era isn't just about exposure — it's about creating connection.
When audiences see the authentic side of student-athletes and programs — what they sacrifice, what they work toward, and what they represent — something changes. Fans become invested. Brands become aligned. Opportunities grow.
Fifty Six reflects Blue Zone Marketing's philosophy perfectly: combining strategic marketing expertise with cinematic storytelling to create content that serves both athletes and audiences in a meaningful way.
Executive produced by Blue Zone's Micky Fritzsche and Ashley Howard, the series was built around one guiding principle: get access, stay authentic, and let the story speak for itself.
More Than a Docuseries
Fifty Six represents Blue Zone Marketing's growing work in the NIL marketing space, partnering with athletes, programs, and brands to create content that genuinely resonates.
College athletics has entered a new era where players are brands, programs are platforms, and authentic storytelling has become the most powerful currency in sports media.
Arizona State baseball remains one of the most iconic programs in college baseball history, producing legends such as Barry Bonds, Reggie Jackson, Dustin Pedroia, and Andre Ethier. This 2026 team is now writing the next chapter of that legacy.
Whether the season ends in May or in Omaha in June, Fifty Six tells the story of a team that decided this was the year.
Tune in Thursday, May 15 at 11 PM MST on Fox10 Phoenix for the premiere of Sun Devil Baseball's Fifty Six: A Docuseries.
